ACP@IU High School Online: ACP Instructor & School Handbook: Indiana University

Select IU ACP courses are available online through IU High School Online (IUHS) to help support students pursuing an IU Indiana College Core certificate (ICC) and/or high school dual credit courses when the partner high school experiences a temporary need for a long-term ACP instructor. Due to limited capacity and increasing demand, student enrollment requests are prioritized as:

Priority 1: enrollments requested by an IU ICC partner school

Priority 2: enrollments requested for students pursuing the ICC

Priority 3: enrollment requests submitted by the school prior to the corresponding enrollment deadline (see Student Data Deadlines)

Tuition

IU High School Online collects tuition at a rate of $291 per course per semester. For academic year 2026-2027, 100 percent (%) of tuition for available spaces will be covered by ACP for enrollments from IU-ICC partner schools that are submitted by the enrollment deadline. Tuition cannot be covered for enrollments submitted after this date.

For tuition costs that are not covered by ACP, IUHS will invoice the school via billing partnership. Please note that IUHS will not bill students and families directly. Schools can expect to be invoiced following the enrollment Drop deadline per semester.

Curricular Materials

The student’s local high school is responsible for procuring required materials and/or paying invoices for IU eText charges where applicable. Required materials per ACP@IUHS course can be found under Available Online ACP@IUHS Courses.

ACP partner schools will indicate in columns Z-AE on the ACP Student Data sheet which ACP@IUHS courses the students will be taking (COLL-P 155, MATH-M 211, etc.). This spreadsheet can be found in the school's ACP SharePoint folder. There, schools will also indicate whether students are pursuing the ICC.

Students are administratively enrolled in ACP@IUHS courses by the IUHS Assistant Director. Questions around ACP@IUHS courses can be directed to Addison Lively, IUHS Assistant Director, at livelya@iu.edu

Follow instructions to set up their IU IT account and username, sent by ACP to their email address provided by the local school.
Complete the required Canvas course How to Succeed in ACP to learn about what is expected of students in ACP and ACP@IUHS courses. This introductory, ungraded course must be completed before starting official ACP@IUHS courses.
Expect to spend time working on course assignments outside of regular school hours.
Expect the same level of rigor as they would experience in a brick-and-mortar setting for a college course.
Check their IU email account and Canvas inbox regularly for any communications from ACP, IUHS and/or instructors.

Provide student data to ACP as outlined above.
Procure required textbooks and materials as applicable (see Available Online ACP@IUHS Courses and Course Materials).
Ensure students successfully create IU IT credentials and access their course(s) in Canvas.
Complete the required Canvas course How to Succeed in ACP to learn about what is expected of students in ACP and ACP@IUHS courses.
Permit student access as needed to Google Docs, Slides and other Google applications as well as Zoom videoconferencing.
Administer exam proctoring and other academic support as needed in collaboration with the IUHS instructor.
Ensure that if students are placed in a classroom to work on the online ACP course, there will be no other provided instructional support or synchronous coursework unless required by documented accommodations for individual students. Students are to complete online coursework independently.
Communicate with IUHS and its teachers regarding changes in student or personnel status that would impact student engagement or local support.

Onboard new ACP@IUHS school partners via Qualtrics form, 1:1 Zoom meeting and communicating onboarding logistics, deadlines and other pertinent information in a timely manner.
Provide ongoing support and proactive communication to school partners to support student success and the overall success of ACP@IUHS partnerships.
Provide ACP-approved curriculum by trained and accredited instructors.
Provide local support with access to student grade progress securely and periodically

Course availability subject to change. This listing shows all current ACP@IUHS course offerings along with the required course materials, IDOE code, credit hours and student prerequisites.

Regardless of the course, students taking IU courses through ACP must:

1. Meet all course prerequisites, earning a grade of C or better (unless otherwise stated)

2. Have a GPA of 2.70 or above on a 4.00 scale through their most recently completed semester of high school
